Crimson heat to cover European Russia at the end of summer: forecasters named regions with the most powerful temperature anomalies
Summer 2024 in the European part of Russia will end with abnormally hot weather, forecasters of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center warned. The air temperature in many regions will be 4-5 degrees above the climatic norm. And this means 30-degree and even 37-degree heat!
On meteorological maps, such anomalies are marked with a crimson color (strictly speaking, pink or red, but the shade depends on how much the temperature goes beyond the norm. It will soon reach crimson, but not yet cherry or burgundy).
The hottest weather is expected in the south of the European part of Russia: on the Black Sea coast, the North Caucasus and the Black Earth Region. In fact, several temperature records were already broken on August 21 and 22. +37.3 degrees were recorded in Tuapse, +34 in Krasnaya Polyana, and +36.3 degrees in the Belgorod Region.
Here are the temperatures that the Hydrometeorological Center is promising for the end of this week and the beginning of next week in the southern regions:
Krasnodar region - up to +37 degrees.
Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod regions - up to +36 degrees.
Lipetsk region - up to +35 degrees.
Kalmykia - up to +33 degrees.
Crimea, Volgograd region - up to +32 degrees.
Stavropol Krai - up to +31 degrees.
In Moscow and the neighboring regions, the coming weekend and the final days of August will also be very hot. On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, August 25-27, the sun will heat the air in the capital to +30 degrees. From Wednesday, the heat will drop to +28 degrees. But this is still too much for the end of August.
However, many Muscovites will rather be pleased with the heat on the eve of the calendar autumn. And it will come from the hot resort places. A ridge of high atmospheric pressure will stretch from the Mediterranean Sea far to the north. An anticyclone will form behind it and it will draw hot air from the south into the European part of Russia:
— The air heated over the Arabian Peninsula, the Iranian plateau and Iraq will throw "tongues of flame" towards the north, touching the lower reaches of the Volga and Don, the Black Sea and Chernozem regions. Strong daytime heating in places can lead to great instability and provoke showers, thunderstorms, with squalls and hail, — the Russian Hydrometeorological Center predicts.
