Kubrick's 'The Shining' Star Shelley Duvall Dies 4 Days After Her 75th Birthday
American film and television actress Shelley Alexis Duvall, Wendy Torrence, the wife of Jack Nicholson's character in Kubrick's The Shining (18+), has died four days after her 75th birthday, THR reported today.
The artist died in her sleep at her home in Texas, the cause of death was complications caused by diabetes, Shelley's partner told the publication.
Duvall was born in 1949 in Texas. She began acting in 1970, when she was “discovered” by Robert Altman. Her filmography includes sixty entries, and she has about thirty awards and nominations, including two Emmys, a BAFTA, and the prize for best actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 1977.
The actress last appeared on screen last year in the horror film "Forest Hills".
