Semak was not among the three nominees for the prize for the best coach of the RPL

Zenit head coach Sergei Semak was not among the three nominees for the title of best coach of the 2023/24 season in the RPL.

Former head coach of Krasnodar Vladimir Ivich, head coach of Dynamo Moscow Marcel Licka and head coach of Rostov Valery Karpin are vying for the prize for the best coach of the season.

Zenit, under the leadership of Sergei Semak, after 28 rounds scored 51 points and ranks 2nd in the RPL. Dynamo has 53 points and 1st position. Krasnodar, led by Ilic, is third with 50 points, and Rostov, led by Karpin, is in 9th place with 40 points.

Over the past five years, Sergei Semak has been consistently recognized as the best coach of the RPL season. The 48-year-old specialist has been heading the St. Petersburg club since 2018. Previously, Semak worked as an assistant to the head coach of Zenit (he was part of the coaching staff of three coaches at once - Luciano Spalletti, Andre Villas-Boas and Mircea Lucescu), the Russian national team during the time of Fabio Capello, and also headed Ufa. Under the leadership of Semak, Zenit won the Russian Championship five times, the Super Cup four times and the Russian Cup once.
