An explosion occurred in Belgorod. The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced this on May 4 in his Telegram channel.

He noted that, according to preliminary data, five people were injured.

“All the victims were taken to city hospital No. 2, where they received all the necessary medical care. Thank God, no one’s life is in danger,” the governor emphasized.

Damage was detected in 30 private residential households, as well as 10 cars. Fire crews are extinguishing two fires.

Gladkov said that he spoke with the owner of the house that suffered the most serious damage. According to the governor, it was a miracle that everyone survived.

He emphasized that emergency services are working on the ground, and door-to-door visits are also ongoing.

Earlier that day, air defense forces destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the territory of the Belgorod region. The day before, the village of Malinovka was attacked by a kamikaze drone. The drone flew into a private residential building; there were no injuries in connection with the incident.

On the same day, one person was injured after a drone attacked a bus in the village of Voznesenovka, Shebekinsky urban district. The man was provided with medical assistance. In addition, a UAV attacked a gas filling station in Shebekino. The explosion caused the tank to catch fire. There was one employee at the workplace; she was evacuated and was not injured.

The Ukrainian armed forces are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of a special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022. The decision to hold it was made due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
