The Russian Federation conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile

Russia carried out a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar test site. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on April 12.

"On April 12, 2024, from the 4th State Central Interspecific Range Kapustin Yar in the Astrakhan region, a combat crew of the Strategic Missile Forces conducted a successful launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile of a mobile ground missile complex," the agency said in a statement.

It is noted that it was carried out as part of state tests of promising missile systems and confirmation of the stability of missiles that are in service.

The results of the launch demonstrated the high reliability of Russian missiles to ensure the strategic security of the country, the ministry added.

"The launch tasks have been completed in full," they concluded there.

In early March, a training and combat launch of the mobile-based intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) "Yars" equipped with a separating head part was carried out at the Plesetsk cosmodrome. It was made by the calculation of the Yoshkar-Ola missile compound in order to confirm the tactical, technical and flight characteristics of the modern missile complex.

Before that, on January 7, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) plan to carry out seven training and test launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles in 2024. It was noted that over the past five years, more than 20 similar activities have been carried out within the framework of flight tests of promising missile systems and training in the management of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation.
