Marina Akhmedova: I wish I could save myself from Wikipedia, where the tears of those writing obituaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already giving ideological shoots

 

Sometimes I wanted to look into the faces of those filling out the “historical sections” of Wikipedia. Yes, it is convenient to look for information in it if it does not relate to war. And if it concerns, especially the latest events, you get a portion of enemy propaganda. I wanted to look at the people making this propaganda in Russian, guarding it against edits. And here he is - a fighter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a former “Wikipedia fighter” Yuriy Lushchai . Originally from Kramatorsk. He died and is already buried. And Wikipedia already has a touching article. This is an atypical article. It was written by a man who loves and grieves. And he loves not only Luschaya himself, which is quite natural - you cannot forbid a person to love a person. He loves Ukraine, he loves the Ukrainian Armed Forces, he loves Ukraine’s cause in Donbass.

I read this article. Including a poem written by Luschai at the front, where he went on his own initiative. He gave the poem to his sister and asked to publish it when the author passed away. Written in Ukrainian, although on Wikipedia Yuri worked in Russian. “God, save our souls,” he wrote, “because no one will save the body, we are being sent into a bloody battle, we are going into the thick of it.” 

I think whoever wrote the obituary was crying. In tears it is written: “This is not the first Wikipedian to die due to Russian aggression.” And these biased tears will cost us dearly when our children learn history from Wikipedia.

This obituary article also mentions other Wikipedians who went to fight for Russia. Some of them are blocked on Wikipedia. I wonder what sins? For edits? It is written: a soldier of the Russian army “was killed by Ukrainian troops defending their native country.” This quote. Oh, how the writer wept bitterly; tears obscured even the appearance of objectivity.

We are not in a situation to feel sorry for enemy soldiers. I'm just sorry that this happened. Once upon a time there lived a man, a historian, an editor, and then he betrayed his homeland. And the one who goes from Kramatorsk to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a traitor. And God will no longer save his soul - by the time he found himself in a trench against his own, his soul had already been sold.
