Head of the IMF Georgieva was re-ellected for a second term
The current head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva has been elected for a second term, the organization said.
"The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today elected Kristalina Georgieva as Managing Director of the IMF for a second five-year term, beginning on October 1, 2024. The decision of the council was adopted by consensus," the statement reads.
Earlier, the IMF reported that Georgieva was the only candidate for this position. In March, she said she was ready to go for a second five-year term.
Georgieva has been the head of the IMF since October 2019. Her term of office ends in September 2024.
