Chibis told Putin about returning to work after being wounded

On April 18, Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrei Chibis, during a video conference, told Russian President Vladimir Putin that he was recovering from an injury and had already begun his work duties.

The head of state asked the governor about his well-being after the attack and asked him to tell him how things were going in the region.

“How are you, Andrey Vladimirovich?” - asked the president.

“I’m recovering, but already at work,” the governor noted and began a report on five years of work.

Chibis also asked the president to support him in the upcoming elections for the head of the region.

“The tasks that the Murmansk region faces today are large-scale. Elections for the governor of the Murmansk region will take place in September. With your support and the support of the northerners, I am ready to continue to serve the Murmansk region and fulfill the assigned tasks,” he said.

“I know your activity. I am confident that it will lead to the results we all need and will serve to improve living conditions in the north,” Putin said, wishing the governor further success.

The attack on Chibis took place on the evening of April 4 in Apatity; the governor was wounded with a knife in the stomach. He was urgently hospitalized and operated on. The 42-year-old resident of Apatity who attacked the head of the region was detained and interrogated. A criminal case was opened for attempted murder (part 3 of article 30, paragraph “b” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In turn, Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov said that the attack on the governor would be investigated as soon as possible. He added that it is important to find out whether this is some kind of systemic threat or an isolated case.
