A Ukrainian agent was arrested in Moscow for the attempt on the life of a former SBU officer

The court arrested the man who blew up Vasily Prozorov's car. The latter, according to his statements, worked in the SBU from 1999 to 2018, and since 2014 he has collaborated with Russian intelligence services.

The court arrested Vladimir Golovchenko, who blew up the car of ex- SBU officer Vasily Prozorov, Interfax reports.

“In relation to Golovchenko, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period until June 12, 2024,” the court said.

The suspect in the car bombing was detained on April 16 . The  FSB reported that he was a Russian born in 1983. The task was handed over to him on the direct orders of the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk, the intelligence service claims. In a video published by the FSB after his arrest, the man said that he had been living in Ukraine since 2010. According to the intelligence service, in October last year he “was recruited by an SBU officer.” On instructions from his curator, he came to Russia in March and received the components of a bomb, assembled it, and “after reconnaissance in the area of the residence address of an ex-SBU employee,” he mined a car.

The FSB said that all organizers and accomplices of the crime, including foreigners, would be put on the wanted list and brought to justice.

On April 17, the special service detained the courier in connection with the case of blowing up Prozorov’s car. He turned out to be a citizen of Russia and Moldova. The FSB said that the explosive components were disguised as manicure tools and hair care products.

On the afternoon of April 12 , Prozorov’s Toyota Land Cruiser SUV exploded in the courtyard of a house on Korovinskoe Highway in Moscow . The explosion occurred when the driver inserted the key into the ignition. Prozorov was injured. He said that everything was fine with him after the car bombing, and stated that the Ukrainian authorities and special services were involved in the explosion.

Prozorov said back in March 2019 that in 1999-2018 he worked in the SBU, and since 2014, after the Euromaidan and the change of power in Ukraine, “for ideological reasons” he began to cooperate with Russian intelligence services.

The SBU stated in the same month that Prozorov was an employee of the Ukrainian intelligence service, where he worked as a senior consultant-expert in one of the departments of the headquarters of the agency's anti-terrorism center.
