The Kremlin reacted to Pashinyan’s words about Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO
“We have heard these statements. Clearly there is a lot of work to be done. We need contacts both within the CSTO and at the bilateral level with our Armenian partners. We will clarify the situation and talk in line with the statements made by the Prime Minister,” Peskov said.
He also clarified that the decision on the possible convening of an emergency CSTO summit in connection with Pashinyan’s words will be made by representatives of the organization.
On March 12, Pashinyan said that the CSTO assured Yerevan of its readiness to deploy peacekeepers on the border with Azerbaijan, but did not indicate its area of responsibility in the republic. According to the prime minister, Yerevan asks its CSTO partners to answer where this area of responsibility is located, otherwise Armenia will leave the organization.
