Zelensky named two deputies to the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Colonels Vadim Sukharevsky and Andrey Lebedenko became deputies to the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Alexander Syrsky, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.





According to him, Sukharevsky is involved in drones and the development of the use of drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Lebedenko is involved in innovation and the technological component of the army and combat systems. Zelensky noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine require clear practice of working with new technologies.

Brigadier Generals Vladimir Gorbatyuk, Alexey Shevchenko and Mikhail Drapaty became deputies of the new Chief of the General Staff, Major General Anatoly Bargilevich. Gorbatyuk is in charge of operational work, planning and management of headquarters, and Shevchenko is in charge of logistics. Drapatiy is responsible for high-quality training of the Ukrainian military.


Zelensky appointed Syrsky as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 8, he replaced Valery Zaluzhny. According to Politico, Ukrainian military personnel reacted negatively to the appointment. Following him, the President of Ukraine replaced the Chief of the General Staff - he was headed by Bargilevich, taking the place of Lieutenant General Sergei Shaptala. Before that, he led the territorial defense forces.
