The EP said that Tucker Carlson may be subject to EU sanctions for an interview with Putin
According to MEP and former Prime Minister of Belgium Guy Verhofstadt, an interview with the Russian leader could turn Carlson into a target for EU legislators . He expressed the opinion that the journalist is “a mouthpiece for former President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.” Verhofstadt added that the EU is introducing sanctions against “everyone who helps” the Russian leader. “It would be logical for the European External Action Service to study his [Carlson’s] case,” the MEP said.
Former MEP Louis Garicano agreed with Verhofstadt, telling Newsweek that Carlson could no longer be considered a reporter because he had become a “propagandist.”
In turn, another European parliamentarian Urmas Paet, commenting on the interview, said that for promoting the position of the Russian authorities “you can get on the sanctions list.” “This concerns, first of all, the ban on entry into EU countries,” Paet concluded.
