In Russia, for the first time, a case was opened against debt collectors under a new article of the Criminal Code

In Russia, for the first time, a criminal case has been opened under a new article on violations when debt collectors return overdue debts, said Dmitry Aristov, director of the Federal Bailiff Service.

 

“In January, the first criminal case was opened under a new article of the Criminal Code in Bashkortostan, that is, the practice of criminal prosecution is beginning to take shape,” he said.

As Aristov noted, after the appearance of this norm, security forces no longer have to select an article of the Criminal Code that covers violations by collection organizations.

According to the document, violators are subject to a fine of 300-500 thousand rubles or in the amount of income for a period of one to three years, forced labor for up to five years, as well as imprisonment for up to five years, accompanied by professional restrictions after serving the term.

In case of a group violation of the law by prior conspiracy with the use of violence that is not dangerous to health, with the destruction or damage of property on a large scale, the penalty is imprisonment for a period of three to seven years with a fine of 500 thousand to a million rubles or in the amount of income for a period of two to four years old.
