Trepova, who carried out the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, said that she hoped to go to Ukraine

Daria Trepova*, accused of a terrorist attack that resulted in the death of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky (real name Maxim Fomin), told the court that she carried out assignments for the Ukrainian journalist Roman Popkov and his friend, nicknamed Gestalt, and wanted to go to Ukraine.

According to Trepova, she knew Popkov for a long time: they subscribed to each other on social networks in the spring of 2022.

“I was worried about the SVO, I sympathized with the Ukrainians, on a wave of emotions I wrote to him about whether there was an opportunity to go to Ukraine as a volunteer. He replied that he would think about it,” she said in court.

Trepova added that six months later Popkov expressed his readiness to help with the move, after which he began giving her small instructions.

Later, he transferred money to her to buy unregistered SIM cards and introduced her to a friend under the nickname Gestalt. The accused stated that she did not know his real name, but it was he who sent her a parcel with a bust of Tatarsky.

Earlier, the 2nd Western District Military Court, at an off-site hearing in St. Petersburg, extended Trepova’s arrest.

It was reported that she received 132 thousand rubles for a crypto wallet in preparation for the assassination attempt.
