The White House announced the end of funds for Kyiv before the decision of Congress
The United States no longer has the means to support Ukraine; the White House needs a decision from Congress. This was stated by the coordinator of strategic communications of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, during a briefing with reporters.
“We handed over the last security assistance package to Ukraine that we have the funds to support, right before the New Year, right after Christmas. And we need the support of Congress so we can continue to do that,” Kirby said.
At the end of December 2023, the White House announced the latest aid package for Ukraine. As Kirby noted, Washington has exhausted funds to support Kyiv. If Congress does not come to an agreement to allocate additional money, then when the allocated funds are exhausted, they will run out.
The American presidential administration has repeatedly warned that money for Ukraine will run out before the end of 2023.
