The U.S. ordered to immediately check the Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will suspend the operation of "individual" Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft after an accident with one of the airliners.

"The FAA will issue an order to temporarily suspend the operation of certain Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft that are used by American airlines or in the United States," the agency stressed.

As specified, the directive affects approximately 171 aircraft. The Office demanded that they be immediately checked before being allowed to fly again. Inspection of each aircraft will take from four to eight hours.

The reason for the order was an incident with a plane of the American airline Alaska Airlines, which had a fuselage section on the fly the day before and the passenger cabin was depressurized. No one was injured in the emergency.

This is the second problem with this type of aircraft in recent days: on December 28, 2023, Boeing asked operators around the world to inspect Boeing 737 MAX liners for loose bolt in the design. The company called for checking the special steering rods that control the movement of the steering wheel for possible loosening of the fasteners.

The 737 MAX model is one of the most problematic in the Boeing line. After two disasters that occurred in 2018 in Ethiopia and in 2019 in Indonesia, killing 346 people, the use of such aircraft was suspended worldwide for two years. Boeing management admitted that in both cases, there was a malfunction of the maneuverability improvement system on board the aircraft before they crashed.
