The U.S. began to publish lists of persons involved in the Epstein case
The Federal Court of the Southern District of New York on Wednesday published the first part of the documents containing the names of more than 150 people in one way or another in the case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of trafficking in sexual services and relationships with underage girls.
Judge Loretta Presca in December 2023 ordered the publication of these documents from January 2024. A significant part of the names on the lists are already known, information about them also appeared in the media. The press reported that among them are former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, brother of the current British King Charles III Prince Andrew, founder of Microsoft Bill Gates. Presence on the lists does not necessarily indicate involvement in Epstein's criminal activities.
On Wednesday evening, 40 documents were uploaded to the court base. Among them are emails, transcripts of testimony, legal opinions.
They mention the co-chairman of the Hyatt hotel chain Thomas Pritzker, American billionaire Glenn Dubin, former U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bill Richardson. According to the minutes, one of the witnesses said that Epstein spoke to her about Bill Clinton, including mentioning that "Clinton loves young" girls.
She also pointed out that she "met with a lot of high-ranking and powerful people."
Epstein was detained by New York State law enforcement agencies on July 6, 2019. The prosecutor's office stated that in 2002-2005 he organized visits to his home in Manhattan of dozens of underage girls, the youngest of whom was 14 years old. Epstein's circle of friends and acquaintances included a large number of current and retired officials not only from the United States, but also from many other countries, including former heads of state, major entrepreneurs and show business stars. The criminal prosecution of a financier in the United States was terminated after his suicide in a prison cell on August 10, 2019.
