The United States told about Iran's possible response to the terrorist attack in Kerman

Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei, against the background of the events in Kerman, called on the commanders to avoid direct conflict with the United States. The politician ordered to limit the response to operations against Israel and attacks by "proxy groups" on U.S. bases, the New York Times writes.

At the same time, Khamenei had previously promised a tough response and punishment to both the direct perpetrators and the organizers of the terrorist attack in the city of Kerman.

However, the American newspaper, citing sources, writes that the Iranian supreme leader called on the commanders to show "strategic patience" and avoid involving Tehran in a direct conflict with Washington at all costs.

"He ordered the military to limit the response to covert operations against Israel or attacks by proxy groups on American bases in Syria and Iraq," journalists wrote.

As stated in the article, Khamenei considers the attacks in Iran and Lebanon to be part of the Israeli campaign.

The explosions occurred on Wednesday, January 3, during a mourning procession on the anniversary of the death of Iranian IRGC General Qasem Suleimani. One of them thundered 700 meters from Suleimani's grave, and the second - a kilometer from it, outside the pilgrims' route, followed a few minutes later. According to Deputy Governor Kerman for Security, the explosions are of a terrorist nature.

Earlier it became known that the number of victims of the explosion at the grave of Suleimani increased to 103 people. 141 victims of the incident are also reported.

The commander of the Al-Quds Special Forces as part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Suleimani, was killed on January 3, 2020 in a U.S. air strike on Baghdad airport.
