The number of deaths as a result of explosions at the Suleimani's grave in Iran has increased to 73
As a result of the explosions near the cemetery in the Iranian city of Kerman, where Supreme Commander Qasem Suleimani is buried, 73 people were killed and 170 wounded, the state agency IRNA reported.
According to local media, there were two explosions, allegedly canisters with gasoline exploded. "It is not yet clear whether it was a gas explosion or a terrorist act," the Deputy for Political Affairs and Security Affairs of Kerman Province told IRNA.
Tasnim, citing sources, reports that there were two bags of bombs near the entrance to the cemetery that could have exploded remotely. Information about the terrorist attack was also provided by the IRNA.
Today, on January 3, a ceremony dedicated to the memory of Qasem Suleimani was held at the cemetery. On the same day in 2020, he was killed in a missile strike by the U.S. Air Force near Baghdad airport. Qasem Suleimani was the head of the elite al-Quds unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Corps is responsible for intelligence and external special operations of Iran.
