The mobile grouping of the Strategic Missile Forces was completely re-equipped from "Topol" to "Yars"
The Strategic Missile Forces (SRF) has completed the rearmament of the mobile grouping from the Topol missile systems to the latest intercontinental ballistic (ICBM) "Yarsy". This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on January 2.
"The re-equipment of the last missile regiment of the Bologovsky missile connection in the Tver region from the Topol PGK to Yars has completed the re-equipment of the mobile group of the Strategic Missile Forces," the department noted.
As part of the mobile group, there are regiments in service with the modern mobile ground missile complex "Topol-M" with sufficient operational resource. The agency plans to re-equip these regiments after 2025.
Before that, on December 19, the editor of the Militaryrussia portal Dmitry Kornev told Izvestia about the technical characteristics of the Russian ICBM "Yars". He specified that the bulk of them are mobile, in addition, the missile complex carries from three to six combat units, depending on the modification, each of which will be aimed at its own target.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that 15 "Yars" and "Avangard" missile systems will be put on combat duty by the end of the year. He pointed out that the role of the nuclear triad in the current conditions has increased significantly.
Russian hypersonic weapons were presented in 2018. It includes the Avangard, Dagger and Zircon missiles. In June 2021, the President of Russia announced that "Avangard" and "Dagger" had already been put on combat duty in the Russian Federation. On December 15 last year in the Tver region, the missile regiment took up combat duty with the "Yars" missile complex.
