The Ministry of Defense spoke about the use of new artillery reconnaissance complexes "Yastreb-AV" in the Northern Military District zone

 The Russian military uses the latest Yastreb-AV artillery reconnaissance systems in the special military operation (SVO) zone. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported this on January 2.

Rocketeers and artillerymen effectively carry out their combat missions not only thanks to the use of unmanned aircraft, which increases the efficiency of artillery fire and survivability on the battlefield, but also with the help of modern artillery reconnaissance equipment, such as Zoo-1M and Yastreb-AV, the department told RIA Novosti.

Yastreb-AV is the most modern Russian radar system, equipped with a phased array antenna for reconnaissance of enemy artillery firing positions. Using radar, this complex autonomously tracks the trajectory of enemy shells and determines the exact coordinates of enemy artillery positions.

Earlier that day , the Russian Ministry of Defense  reported that the crew of the Msta-B howitzer of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed a mortar of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near Artemovsk (Ukrainian name - Bakhmut). As the department indicated, the day before, the crew of the 152-mm howitzer "Msta-B" of the Southern Military District, as part of counter-battery warfare, destroyed with a direct hit the crew of the 120-mm mortar of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which took up a position in a forest belt in the Artemovsk area.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which the Russian leader announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
