The Kremlin said what they think about the idea of moving the Russian capital to Irkutsk
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov called the idea of moving the Russian capital from Moscow to Irkutsk unfeasible. He shared this opinion with reporters on Tuesday, January 16.
“I don’t think this initiative is feasible,” admitted the Kremlin representative.
Let us recall that the idea in question belongs to the Yakut historian Afanasy Nikolaev. He published an open letter to President Vladimir Putin, in which he expressed the opinion that moving the capital to Irkutsk, among other things, would ensure security for the country's leadership and affect a leap in Russia's socio-economic development.
