Specialists of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care performed their first liver transplant operation, the correspondent of Podrobno.uz reports with reference to the Ministry of Health.
During a complex operation with the participation of Indian specialists, the right lobe of his sister's liver was transplanted to a patient who had struggled with cirrhosis for a long time. The operation was successful.
Recall that in October 2017, the authorities of Uzbekistan allowed liver and kidney transplants, and at the end of 2019, the Ministry of Health expanded the list of relatives who can become donors for organ transplantation.
The first liver transplant operation in Uzbekistan was carried out on the basis of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vahidov in February 2018.
