Russian and Ukrainian shook hands at the Australian Open

Russian Vlada Mincheva and Ukrainian Elizaveta Kotlyar shook hands after the first round match of the junior Australian Open.

The meeting ended with a score of 6:2, 6:4 in favor of the Russian, seeded 15th at the tournament. At the end of the match, the athletes approached the net and shook hands.

Previously, Ukrainian tennis players repeatedly refused to shake hands after matches with representatives of Russia and Belarus.

Mincheva is 16 years old and ranks 21st in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior rankings. She has six victories in tournaments under the auspices of the organization. This is her debut junior Australian Open.
