Putin took a dip in the ice hole on the morning of January 19 on the occasion of Epiphany
“The President took a dip in the ice hole in the morning, traditionally on the occasion of Epiphany,” he said.
Last year, Putin, following his tradition, took part in Epiphany bathing in the Moscow region. However, in 2022, he decided not to take part in Epiphany bathing due to epidemiological conditions. At the same time, Peskov noted that participation in Epiphany bathing is a personal matter for everyone.
Before this, in 2018, the president took part in Epiphany bathing on Lake Seliger in the Tver region. Then Peskov noted that this is not the first experience of Epiphany bathing for Putin; he has been plunging into the ice hole for several years.
The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the Epiphany on January 19. On the night of Epiphany, many believers traditionally plunge into an ice hole.
