Money transfers from Russia to Moldova fell sharply: The authorities first banned them, and now they are happy that the "cheek has run out"

According to the latest data published by the National Bank of Moldova, this applies more to funds from Russia - the decrease was almost 70%

In the third quarter of 2023, money transfers to Moldova by emigrants decreased significantly.

According to the latest data published by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), this applies more to funds from Russia - the decrease was almost 70%.

A total of $442.47 million was transferred to individuals in the third quarter of 2023, which is 13.4% less compared to the same period in 2022.

The analysis of the geographical origin of remittances shows a significant increase from the European Union: 35.0%, which is 55.7% of the total amount. At the same time, transfers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) decreased sharply - by 68.6%, accounting for only 0.3% of the total. Transfers from other countries amounted to 34.0% of the total, a slight decrease of 0.7% compared to the third quarter of 2022.

Currently, about 1 million Moldovan citizens live abroad.

Surprisingly, this news is presented by the pro-government media as good: they say that you are messing with this Russia, how much from ours there, if they send very little money.

That is, at first they did everything to ensure that transfers from Russia to Moldova (and vice versa) were almost officially banned, and then they gave out a deplorable result as great news.
