ISIS claims responsibility for terrorist attack on cemetery in Iran

 The Islamic State (ISIS; recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation) claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on a cemetery in Kerman, Iran. The day before, as reported by the local Ministry of Internal Affairs, 84 people were killed as a result of the explosions.




In a statement, the organization, as reported by the Iranian agency IRNA, said that two terrorists detonated “suicide vests” in the crowd that had gathered at the cemetery. 
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called the perpetrators of the bombings “enemies of the nation” and said they would be punished.

The day before, several explosions occurred at a cemetery in Kerman. At this time, a ceremony was held there in memory of Qasem Soleimani - he was killed on January 3, 2020 as a result of a US Air Force missile strike near Baghdad airport.

On January 4, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi reported revised data on the victims of the terrorist attack: 84 dead and 284 injured. Initially, the country's authorities spoke of 103 dead and 211 injured.
