Attacks on Belgorod
On the afternoon of December 30, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Belgorod. According to the Ministry of Defense, they used "Olkha" missiles with a cluster unit and the Czech Vampire MLRS. Air defenses intercepted most of the shells, but several ammunition and cluster units hit the city.
As the department stressed, the enemy troops carried out shelling in an attempt to distract attention from the defeats at the front and provoke the Russian army to such actions.
According to the latest data, 25 people, including five children, were the victims of the attack, and more than a hundred people were injured. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the articles "Attempted murder", "Murder", "Deliberate destruction or damage to property".
In the first days of the new year, Belgorod was shelled again. Thus, during the day on January 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired 24 "Olkha" missiles and two "Tochki-U" missiles at the city and the region, all of them were shot down by Russian air defense systems. As a result of the Ukrainian attacks, one civilian was killed and another 11 were injured. On January 3, the air defense system destroyed 12 missiles: six "Tochek-U" and six "Olkha" MLRS shells. A teenage girl was injured in the shelling of the village of Soloti.
President Vladimir Putin called the attack on Belgorod a terrorist attack, noting that it was a targeted blow to the civilian population, which will not go unpunished.
