Daria Trepova received 27 years in prison in the case of a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg

The court sentenced Daria Trepova to 27 years in a general regime colony with a fine of 600 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for two years in the case of a terrorist attack in a St. Petersburg cafe, where war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky (real name - Maxim Fomin) died, a TASS correspondent reports from courtroom.



 

“For the totality of crimes, in accordance with parts 3 and 4 of Article 69 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Trepova’s final punishment is determined by partial addition of the imposed penalties in the form of imprisonment for a term of 27 years with serving the sentence in a general regime correctional colony with restriction of freedom for a period of 2 years, a fine of 600 thousand rubles,” said the presiding judge of the panel Timur Zhidkov, announcing the operative part of the verdict.


The court sentenced Dmitry Kasintsev to 1 year and 9 months in a general regime colony for harboring Trepova. “Dmitry Sergeevich Kasintsev was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, for which he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 year and 9 months to be served in a general regime correctional colony,” said Judge Timur Zhidkov.

The court changed the preventive measure for Kasintsev before the verdict came into force from house arrest to detention, the convoy handcuffed the defendant in the courtroom and placed him in a glass box with Trepova.

Trepova's sentence was the most severe sentence against a woman in Russian history. Previously, the maximum sentence was 25 years in prison.

Current legislation does not provide for life imprisonment for women. Trepova's defense intends to appeal the verdict.
