Bi-2 participants reported the cancellation of the decision on deportation from Thailand to Israel

The decision to deport Bi-2 participants from Thailand to Israel has been cancelled. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Russian rock band.

“Today, after a visit by high-ranking diplomats from the Russian consulate, representatives of the group were informed that the decision on deportation to Israel had been cancelled. The group members refused to communicate with the Russian consul,” the message says.

It is clarified that the decision to deport the participants to Israel was made on January 29, and air tickets were also purchased. At the moment, the group members continue to be in a migration center in Bangkok .

Members of Bi-2 were detained on January 24 in Thailand after a concert on the resort island of Phuket, which they held without a work permit. According to local authorities, officers from the Patong police station, a resort on the west coast of Phuket, detained a total of seven people. Concerts of “Bi-2” were held in Thailand in Pattaya on January 22 and in the province of Phuket on January 24.

On January 26, a court in the Thai city of Phuket ordered each of the Bi-2 participants to pay a fine of 3 thousand baht ($84) for violating local legislation. The Phuket Province Tourist Police Department, in turn, indicated that “in Thailand, foreigners are prohibited from working without a work permit,” noting that after paying a fine, violators of Thai law will be ordered to leave the country.

According to the Russian Consul General in the province of Phuket, Vladimir Sosnov, on January 27, the immigration authorities decided to transport the musicians from Phuket to the Temporary Detention Center of the Royal Thai Immigration Bureau in Bangkok for subsequent deportation. According to him, five of the seven members of the group are citizens of Russia, two more of its members entered Thailand using Israeli and Australian passports. The soloists and founders of the group Egor Bortnik (Lev “Bi-2”), whom the Russian Ministry of Justice added to the register of foreign agents in May last year, as well as Alexander Uman (Shura “Bi-2”) have citizenship of these countries .
