At what salary can you expect a pension of 50 thousand rubles?

The size of the pension directly depends on two indicators: length of service and the number of pension coefficients. Finance Mail.ru decided to find out how much Russians need to earn in order to count on 40-50 thousand rubles in retirement.

As recalled by Lyudmila Ivanova-Shvets, associate professor of the Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry  of the Russian Federation “Human Resource Management” of the Russian Economic University. G.V. Plekhanov, in Russia the old-age pension consists of a fixed and funded part.

“To receive the maximum pension, it is necessary that deductions from wages allow you to earn the maximum number of pension coefficients - 10 per year,” the economist noted.

From January 1, 2024, the maximum base for calculating insurance premiums was indexed to 2.225 million rubles.

In 2024, the cost of the pension coefficient is 133.05 rubles. This means that for the year the maximum amount of the earned funded part of the pension will be 1330.5 rubles.

“The size of the fixed part is set by the government every year and indexed. In 2024, the size of the fixed part is 8,134.88 rubles,” the expert explained.

In order for the pension to amount to the conditional 50 thousand rubles, at the moment it is necessary that the funded part amount to 41865.12 rubles. It turns out that a citizen must receive a salary equal to the accumulation of 10 pension coefficients for 31.5 years.

So it’s quite possible to earn such a pension. But at the moment this is not yet very achievable for ordinary pensioners: everyone who is currently reaching retirement age has worked until 2002. And they have their own system for calculating pension coefficients, which are then transferred to the funded part of the pension.

But in the future, the number of citizens who can count on a pension of 50,000 rubles will be greater.
