Air defense systems shot down ten missiles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over Crimea
Air defense systems stopped an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Crimea using aircraft guided missiles, the Ministry of Defense reported.
“Ten Ukrainian missiles were destroyed over the Crimean Peninsula by air defense systems on duty,” the department emphasized.
It is clarified that the incident occurred around 17:20 Moscow time.
Earlier today, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, reported that a Ukrainian attack on the city had been repelled. According to him, the military destroyed many different air targets. The governor urged people to remain calm and not to film or post the work of air defense systems.
Shortly before this, an air raid alarm sounded in the city. A smoke screen was used in the Northern Bay and in the inner roadstead. Car traffic stopped on the Crimean Bridge, and public transport also stopped in Sevastopol.
At 18:08 Moscow time, Razvozhaev announced the cancellation of the air raid warning. The signals sounded for about an hour and a half.
The governor also noted that the repelled attack was the most massive in recent times. One of the fragments hit a house on Glukhova Street, one person was injured and was hospitalized. Debris also fell near residential buildings in the Pesochnaya Bay area; information about the damage is being clarified. In Chernorechye, part of what was presumably a rocket crashed into the Chernaya River. Also, fragments fell on General Zhidilov Street and on the Uchkuevka embankment. There was no damage or casualties.
In addition, local residents reported the fall of a downed rocket near a private sector behind the Sevastopol State University, which did not explode. Security officers went there to check the information.
Razvozhaev also stated that law enforcement officers are already looking for those who posted videos of air defense systems in operation. He stressed that such actions are criminally punishable.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly shell Russian border territories, carry out drone strikes and carry out sabotage. The Russian military is suppressing enemy attempts, repelling air defense attacks.
In Sevastopol and Crimea there is a yellow level of terrorist threat. It involves strengthening the work of law enforcement agencies, conducting searches at train stations and in crowded places, placing medical organizations on high alert, and strengthening the security of strategic facilities.
