The date of the MIFF-2024 became known

 One of the oldest film festivals in Russia will be held from April 19 to 26, 2024

The 46th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) will be held from April 19 to 26, 2024, TASS reports with reference to the management of the event.

The main venue of the show will traditionally be the Oktyabr cinema center. The organizers will announce the date of acceptance of applications later, the message notes.

The closing ceremony of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival was held on April 27, 2023 at the Russia Theater. The main prize of the MIFF went to the film "Three Brothers" directed by Francisco Paparella. In total, 200 films were shown at the festival in 10 cinemas in Moscow.

The Moscow International Film Festival has been held in Moscow since 1935. Since 1999, the president of the MIFF has been Nikita Mikhalkov, since the same year the festival has been held annually. Since 2022, the chairman of the selection committee has been Ivan Kudryavtsev.

In 2023, the jury of the national competition "Russian Premieres" of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival was headed by People's Artist of Russia, director Alexei Uchitel. At that time, seven films were presented within the framework of the national competition: "Hell" by Stanislav Svetlov, "The Tin Head" by Ivan Kapitonov, "The Montevideo Unit" by Tatiana Lyutaeva, "The Edge of the Broken Moon" by Svetlana Samoshina, "The Secret Attraction" by Stasi Venkova, "The Pardon" by Ainur Askarov and "The Mist" by Natalia Gugueva. The prize for his contribution to world cinema was awarded to director Karen Shakhnazarov.

Earlier it became known that the films "Challenge", "Snegir" and "Volunteer's Playlist" were shortlisted for the Golden Eagle Award.
