State Duma Deputy Chaplin explained when it is most profitable to spend maternity capital

 It is better not to spend maternal capital until February 2024, says Nikita Chaplin (ER), a member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes. The deputy explained in a comment to RG when it is more profitable to spend these funds. He also provided clarification regarding social deductions.

For families who have not yet used maternity capital, even if a small part of the amount remains, it is better to wait until February, the deputy noted.

“In February, maternity capital will be indexed by 7.5%,” he explained, “maternity capital for the first-born will be 631 thousand rubles, and for the birth of the second child - 834 thousand rubles. Moreover, the bonus will come even to the remaining amount: for example, if there are 290 thousand rubles left on the account, then in February this amount will increase to 311 thousand rubles.”

In addition, for families who have already exhausted the limit of social tax deductions this year, it is better to postpone payment for education or treatment to January 2024, then the limit will be provided again and higher, Chaplin continued.

He recalled that in 2023, the total amount of expenses that are included in the social deduction limit is 120 thousand rubles, and the maximum amount to be refunded is about 15 thousand rubles. At the same time, in 2024 the limit will be increased to 150 thousand rubles, and it will be possible to return about 19 thousand rubles.

“Therefore, if expensive treatment costs for children are expected, it is better to postpone the procedures to 2024 in order to return more money,” the deputy recommends.
