Russian troops took an important stronghold in the Donetsk direction

 Stormtroopers of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division took control of a strategically important stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk direction, a source in the group of troops "South" told RIA Novosti.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, Russian fighters were on the offensive with intensive shelling. They were able to come close to the enemy's stronghold, where four Ukrainian soldiers were.

"Thanks to the competent actions and commands of the deputy platoon commander and the courage of the whole group, we were able to destroy two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wounded one and take one prisoner," the source said.

In addition, it was possible to capture a large arsenal of Western weapons. Among the trophies are ten NLAW anti-tank missile systems and five Javelin ATGMs. In addition, Russian troops found four Swedish AT-4 hand grenade launchers, small arms ammunition, surveillance and communication equipment, as well as foreign gas masks.

"Infrequent history - the captured supporter and all the trophies were "fixed", now it is more or less calm in this area, since it became possible to take out the weapons," the agency's interlocutor explained.

He added that all participants in the operation were presented to the Order of Courage.

Recently, Russian troops have achieved significant success in the Donetsk direction. In particular, on Monday, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced at a meeting with Vladimir Putin about the complete liberation of Maryinka. This settlement is located a kilometer from the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. Taking Maryinka under control will make it possible to more effectively protect the capital of the DPR from the fire of the Ukrainian army, the head of the Ministry of Defense stressed.
