Russian chess player Gunina won the World Blitz Championship in Samarkand

Russian Valentina Gunina became the first at the World Blitz Championship, which is taking place in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).

On Saturday, 34-year-old chess player Gunina defeated compatriot Leya Garifullina, Ukrainians Maria and Anna Muzychuk , Chinese Ju Wenjun , and also tied with Russian Ekaterina Lagno , Indian Humpy Koneru and Mongolian Turmunkhiin Munkhzul. Gunina lost only to Chinese Zhu Jin'er. Based on the results of 17 rounds, Gunina scored 14 points.

The second place was taken by Russian Alexandra Kosteniuk representing Switzerland , who scored 13.5 points. China's Zhu Jin'er was third with 12.5 points. Russian Ekaterina Lagno took fifth place (11.5), Alexandra Goryachkina became 11th (11).

Gunina won the World Blitz Championship for the second time - the first time she won the tournament was in 2012. On Thursday, Russian Anastasia Bodnaruk became the champion of the world rapid championship .
