Russia is finishing off Ukraine's military industry

Experts named the goals of the massive strike of the Russian armed forces on Ukraine

"There have been so many targets on our monitors for a long time" - this is how the Armed Forces of Ukraine described the scale of the massive strike of the Russian Armed Forces on military and industrial facilities on the enemy's territory. Different types of missiles and drones were involved in the attack. What else were the peculiarities of these strikes and what results could they lead to?

In the period from December 23 to December 29, the Russian Armed Forces carried out 50 group, as well as one massive strike with high-precision weapons and drones on military-industrial complex facilities, airfield infrastructure and arsenals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense reported. In addition, the storage sites of unmanned boats, artillery ammunition, weapons and fuel for the equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the location of Ukrainian troops were hit.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian side claims that on Friday alone, a total of 122 missiles and 36 UAVs were fired in five regions, the local newspaper "Country" writes. It is claimed that not only the Iskanders, but also strategic aviation with X-101 missiles and the Navy with the Calibers worked on the territories controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"So many red (targets) have not been seen on our monitors for a very long time," complained Yuri Ignat, representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the monitors displayed targets in almost the entire airspace, "in all areas and in all directions." Military analyst Yuri Podolyaka in his Telegram channel calls it "the most powerful raid of the Russian Air Force", not counting the first days of the special operation.

In particular, a series of explosions thundered in Odessa. There were also strikes on objects in Kharkiv, arrivals in Cherkassy were recorded. The fire also occurred at a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv in the west of the country, said the mayor of the city Andrey Sadovoy. "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" with reference to social networks reports on the attack of the Academy of the Land Forces in Lviv.

Several strikes were carried out on targets in Kiev. This was confirmed by the mayor of the city Vitaly Klitschko. He also reported damage to the Lukyanovskaya metro station, which worked as a shelter. Meanwhile, eyewitnesses reported that a column of black smoke was visible in the area of the Artem military plant, located opposite the subway. The mayor also recommended the strikes on the Podolsk district, where about fifty industrial enterprises are located.

Several explosions occurred in areas where critical infrastructure facilities and industrial enterprises of Ukraine are located, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. In addition, he spoke about hits in military facilities in Ukraine. The general did not give details - the exact places of the explosions and the names of the damaged objects remained unknown.

According to experts, such massive strikes are the result of the work of Russian intelligence. Moreover, the operation was carried out in several stages - first, the degree of stability of the enemy's air defense was felt by "Geran" drones, and a few days later missiles and other types of weapons were used. Ukrainian analysts claim a four-wave attack.

"The massive strikes we are witnessing are necessary to overload the air defense system of the opposing side.

The West has supplied the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a sufficient number of anti-aircraft weapons. In addition, some Soviet equipment still remains at Ukraine's disposal. Therefore, only a serious attack can guarantee the achievement of the result," said military correspondent Fyodor Gromov.

"Our army had to hit the targets, the locations of which were transferred in advance by our intelligence. These are the enemy's factories, for example, "Artem" in Kiev. There may not even be production, but the workshops are a convenient place to accommodate military cargo. The peculiarity of such enterprises is that they were built in the times of the USSR and are often fortified structures that are not so easy to break through," he notes.

"The enemy's positional air defense areas could also be the goal. In addition, the Academy of the Army in Lviv was hit, where the personnel were located. The logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also beaten," the interlocutor emphasizes.

"But defeating the planned targets is not the only task that the Russian army solved with this attack. Massive strikes help to reduce the enemy's combat mood. Well, I do not exclude that we observed a kind of "retaliation strikes" for the BDK "Novocherkassk" damaged in Feodosia. Such things should not be left unpunished," Gromov explained.

Military expert Alexei Leonkov believes otherwise and excludes the possibility of "retaliation strikes", as the Russian army tries to avoid the practice of reflex strikes. "Everything happens according to a certain algorithm. First, intelligence collects information about the enemy's military infrastructure. Then a plan is drawn up and only after that the operation begins," he explains.

"We have attacked objects in Ukraine before, but this attack has become one of the most powerful," the military expert emphasizes. According to him, the damage caused was extremely tangible for the enemy, especially with regard to his military-technical and production potential.

Among the main goals, the analyst names warehouses, repair shops, the remaining industry of Ukraine, in particular the Artem plant. He assumes that drones or rockets could be assembled there. "Now there are interruptions in Western military assistance. Therefore, the more we destroy warehouses, the worse the situation on the line of contact for the enemy," the interlocutor emphasized.

The military expert also admits that the enemy's repair facilities were affected. "The Armed Forces of Ukraine needs to repair the damaged equipment, and it is long and expensive to take it to Europe. Therefore, it is quite possible that our intelligence has become aware of the locations of such workshops or workshops. After all, it's not for nothing that Ukraine has recently ordered spare parts," Leonkov said.

"Also, in the Ukrainian segment of social networks, footage is spreading, as an anti-aircraft missile falls on the roof of an unfinished house. Of course, there were again cries that the Russian Armed Forces were allegedly hitting the civilian infrastructure. But we understand that Zelensky's office simply did not solve the issue of air defense in the urban agglomeration,"

- said the military expert. He explained that the complexes should be placed in such a way that the downed targets do not fall on civilian facilities, but "Zelensky's office and those who plan defense have not coped with this task, and the qualification of the military working with air defense systems also raises questions."

"In general, as a result of today's strike, many enemy objects were hit, which even the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recognized. This was a consequence of the good work of our intelligence, as well as the study of the work of the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To do this, apparently, our troops first launched "Gerani" in advance," said military expert Boris Rozhin.

"The massive nature of the strike is also explained by the large number of deception missiles that the enemy took as targets and shot down. Various UAVs, including the modernized Gerani, were actively involved in the attack. All this, combined with the limited enemy air defense, made it possible to achieve good results," the interlocutor emphasizes.

"Based on objective control data, we can conclude that today's attack was mainly focused on the enemy's military-industrial complex. This is confirmed by the arrival of the Artem plant in Kiev,

- he notes. "Such enterprises are used either for storage of equipment or for production. In particular, drones can be assembled there, ammunition or EW equipment can be released there. As soon as Russia finds out that the plant is used for military purposes, it strikes it to stop the development of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine," the expert emphasizes.

"The enemy has already begun to impersonate the fall of its air defense missiles on civilian objects for our strikes for propaganda purposes. However, the damage to buildings by the striking elements of S-300 or "Buka" is clearly visible. The ammunition used by the enemy is old, and often immediately after launch, leaves the course, which leads to such consequences," concluded Rozhin.
