Nepomniachtchi criticized FIDE for privileges for Carlsen
Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi addressed the International Chess Federation (FIDE) regarding the personal privileges of the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen at the World Rapid and Blitz Championship, which is taking place in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).
Carlsen is in the lead after the first day of competition in Samarkand, the best of the Russian grandmasters, Daniil Dubov, is in eighth place. Nepomniachtchi is in 64th position. The rapid competition will end on December 28, and the World Blitz Championship will take place
“Dear FIDE and the organizers of the championship, as you know, all animals are equal, but some of them are more equal. Is it fair to give Carlsen a private room where he can relax and prepare for the game using a laptop, while no one else has the same opportunity?” — Nepomniachtchi wrote on the social network X.
Carlsen is the current world rapid and blitz champion.
