Israel will replace the ambassador to Russia

 Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi will be replaced by Simone Galperin. Ben Zvi and his wife Edna Ben Zvi will end their diplomatic career and retire after 40 years of service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.




Ben Zvi himself noted as a result of his work that Russian-Israeli relations "are developing in a normal way, and the resulting disagreements are resolved diplomatically." The Ambassador also expressed hope for the further strengthening of relations between the countries and wished success to the future head of the diplomatic mission.

Galperin was born in 1969 in Riga (Latvia), lived in Leningrad before repatriation to Israel in 1976. She received a master's degree in law and public administration from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 1993, she entered the Israeli diplomatic service. She was Deputy Ambassador to Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea, Adviser to the European Parliament in the Israeli Mission to the EU and Director of the Department of International Organizations and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since August 2010, she has headed the Israeli Economic and Cultural Administration in Taipei. In 2010-2015, she was the head of the Israeli representative office in Taiwan, from July 2017 - Israeli Ambassador to Singapore and East Timor, then - Deputy Head of the Department of Euro-Asia and the Western Balkans of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. In May 2023. The High Commission for Appointments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel has decided to appoint Galperin as Israel's ambassador to Russia.
